Staying safe on RYHH
RYHH connects guests and homeowners directly. Here’s what to look out for on both sides.

Advice for guests
Verify before paying
Before sending any payment, confirm the homeowner's identity. Call them. Ask questions about the property. A legitimate owner will answer them.
Avoid unusual payment methods
Bank transfer is standard. Be cautious if an owner asks for gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers to overseas accounts.
Get a written confirmation
Before you pay, agree the booking dates, cancellation terms, and total cost in writing — email or message is fine.
Check the listing carefully
Photos should look consistent. If rates seem far below similar properties, investigate before committing.
Keep communication on record
Use email or messaging rather than phone-only conversations so you have a record of what was agreed.
Report problems
If a listing looks fraudulent or a homeowner behaves inappropriately, email us at hello@rentyourholidayhome.co.uk.
For homeowners
Advice for homeowners
Verify your guests
Booking requests include name, email, and phone. Call the guest before confirming. Most problems are avoided by a quick conversation.
Secure your property
Change key codes between guests. Provide accurate emergency contact details. Make sure smoke alarms and fire extinguishers are in place.
Use a rental agreement
A short written agreement covering dates, guest count, payment, and damage deposit protects both you and your guest.
Keep your listing accurate
Outdated photos or inaccurate descriptions lead to disappointed guests and negative reviews. Update your listing when anything changes.
Report guest misconduct
If a guest causes damage or behaves inappropriately, email us at owners@rentyourholidayhome.co.uk. We can restrict accounts where there is evidence of misconduct.
